This page has been set up as a place for everyone to share useful info about their piercing experiences that may help others.
Whether it's about useful healing tips, or problem solving, we usually have something to share - or ask.
Please start your thread with the name of the piercing you have. I know it sounds dumb - but you would be surprised how many people think we know EXACTLY what a person is talking about - WITHOUT this info.
So.....please play nice......and have fun.
Comments will be left open on this page to allow folks to comment :)

Here you go Ebony Jade :) So hard to create new tabs in Facebook now so I thought this would work short term.
Otherwise - the Question tab could be used on FB.

Thanks Lou! :D
I'll repeat (in more detail) what I wrote on facebook to get the ball rolling!
My name is Ebony, I have the following piercings: Industrial, 3 piercings in each lobe, nostril, 2 nape anchors, navel and 2 'hip' (side stomach) anchors, the experiences I will share are to do with my hip anchors and the advice I received from TPU about what I thought might not be 'normal' in regards to healing.
First visit (3 months after i got them done)was that there was still dark (unraised) scarring underneath the disks, this wasn't an issue as much as it was a question 'is there something I should be doing to help this along eg. vit E or Bio oil?' answer 'There's no need, just let it go its perfectly normal for darker scarring to be under them for some time'
Second visit (4 months after piercing) was in regards to them still discharging in an amount where I had to continue soaking them daily and when I flossed underneath them (to get rid of set discharge) there would be some blood on the floss - I thought that because they were still secreting small amounts of blood (I mean very small, just enough to colour the floss, not enough to actually show as bleeding out under the disk) it is something to be worried about, once again 'They look really good, just soak them as necessary'
I've been worried because there is so little information out there about the way anchors heal, hopefully we can get a good helpful thread so people know what to expect through the whole healing process :)

i recently got my tongue peirced, but the hole has now turned into about a 1cm slit, (rip) and i don't know what i should do, it's been about 2 weeks since it happened & i have still kept the bar in, but it hasnt healed.. please help?

Hi Felicity,
Sorry to hear this has happened :( The tongue tissue does "give" easily when put under pressure. One of the reasons this may have happened is that your barbell was too long - allowing for a lot of movement. The other reason could be a bar that was too thin. 14g is the minimum thickness for tongue piercing.
That said - one of the "fixes" will require the longer jewellery, but it is then important that you change down the barbell to the correct size once the swelling goes down.
Fix #1 - take the jewellery out and see what happens over time. The tear could repair itself once the jewellery stops reopening it. If it does - then come in and see us for the possible stretch and insertion of a bar of the correct length.
Fix #2 - will require a new cut to expose fresh tissue, followed by a stitch or two to rejoin the wound. We can do this at The Piercing Urge.
If it was me - I would take the jewellery out and leave it to see if it heals up on it's own. If it completely heals, then a re-pierce, followed by a change down would be the easiest solution - depending on where you are located.
If you do nothing, the cut will probably remain.
Please let us know how you go.
Cheers
Lou
